Details about a&o's commitmenta&o Hotels and Hostels is a company based in Berlin. For this reason, it's always a particular joy for us to support projects in Berlin and the surrounding area! For a&o, it's very important to be socially engaged, to help disadvantaged people and to support them. Additionally, it's a great concern for us to see how the individual projects develop and what becomes possible and is created with the money.
One of our most beautiful projects that we've been supporting since 2004 is the SOS Children's Villages Foundation. Particularly the SOS Training Centre in Berlin-Moabit.
Young people also have the opportunity with us to gain insight into working life through an internship, to prove themselves and thereby get a job.
a&o loves sport
Because a&o management and employees are enthusiastic sports fans and have their own running team, among other things, it's a heartfelt matter for us to support sports teams.
Partnerships in youth football are always set up for the long term and have tradition at a&o. So the hostel chain already supports young top athletes in Germany and Austria with the U17 girls' team of 1. FC Union Berlin and the U16 youth of SK Sturm Graz. With the first division FC Viktoria Plzeň, a&o expanded their involvement to U19 teams in the Czech Republic in 2016.
As a Berlin company, the local neighbourhood factor also comes into play:
Through memberships such as with the Berlin Eisbären Supporter Club and partnerships with the Berlin State Sports Association and SG Handwerk e.V. (including triathlon, volleyball, swimming) and countless mentions as partner hotel, for example for cycling (6-day race, kids tour, Berlin Cycling Association) or marathon running (Berlin half marathon), a&o supports sporting events in all areas.
Additionally, a&o has active sponsorship agreements with the Deutsche Eisschnelllaufgemeinschaft e.V., ttc berlin eastside Table Tennis Club Berlin and the Deutsche Schachjugend.
The a&o hostel chain doesn't just want to support all these projects with money, but also always gives teams and groups the opportunity to stay overnight for free in the a&o hostels.
