Convenient from booking to bar: a&o is winner of the German App-Award 2024
Berlin, 1 February 2024 – "Another one of our 100% in-house developments," says Phillip Winter, CMO of a&o Hostels, delighted with the App Award 2024, "250,000 users have already installed the a&o app - now we're getting another big boost from this award." The German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ) presented this award for the first time together with the news channel ntv. a&o Hostels is one of three winners in the "Mobility & Travel" category.
A total of 30,000 consumer opinions and an extensive social media survey form the basis for the "population-representative survey", according to the DISQ. Customer satisfaction was examined with regard to the range of products and services, ease of use and customer service. This included aspects such as quality, benefits, scope of services or usability and comprehensibility.
"The numerous and very positive ratings of 4.5 in the app stores have already confirmed that we are on the right track with our app," says Phillip Winter, "the latest App-Award 2024 is great feedback on our product at the start of the year and is very motivating for us." According to Winter, in-house solutions have been a key feature and essential component of a&o from the very beginning: "Customer needs and feedback are directly incorporated here."
"Development team gives you a head start"
According to Winter, the internal development team's great independence and flexibility guarantee more effective and efficient project implementation. "This gives us an important head start; our guests really appreciate added value such as time savings, convenience and security thanks to the successful use of digital services." Guests will soon be able to use the app to place their food and drink orders for the bar and even pay directly. Other in-house developments include the mobile key and check-in terminals, which will be available at every a&o location by the end of the year and will then be equipped with QR scanners for ID cards and booking confirmations, among other things.
