Playful knowledge for more sustainability: a&o launches pilot projects in Berlin, Dresden and Copenhagen

Berlin - "We want to inform and motivate people to live sustainably in an entertaining and playful way," emphasizes Oliver Winter, "in a way that inspires, not teaches." What this can look like is demonstrated by the a&o Berlin Mitte, and soon also by the hotels in Dresden and Copenhagen, with their ESD measures - Education for Sustainable Development: with colorful comic strips in the stairwells, with Wheels of Knowledge and stickers (almost) everywhere in the hotel, which were developed and implemented by a&o interior designer Lavina Daryani with the support of external artists.

Sustainable thinking and action is the goal of the ESD programs initiated by Unesco: Education for Sustainable Development is intended to motivate young people in particular to get involved and live sustainably.  

"Half of our guests are between the ages of 18 and 34, and school classes account for around a third of all overnight stays - these are precisely the young people who demand sustainable commitment from us, but at the same time want to be active and involved themselves," Oliver Winter knows, adding that initial reactions to the pilot measures in Berlin have been positive.
