Introducing the 118-room a&o Rotterdam City – rooms from €120 per night

May 2022 – a&o Hostels has continued its rapid expansion by adding a new property in Rotterdam, The Netherlands to its portfolio. As of this month, the Berlin-based budget accommodation specialist has taken over Hotel Rotterdam City. The gradual conversion and renovation works are set to be completed by the end of 2022 and will seamlessly incorporate the former hotel into a&o’s portfolio as the new a&o Rotterdam City. The city is renowned for its trendy nightlife, impressive architecture and thriving foodie scene so is the perfect choice for those looking for an affordable break.

With 118 rooms, a&o Rotterdam City will be the hostel group’s second location in the Netherlands, along with a sister property in Amsterdam. a&o Founder and CEO Oliver Winter, comments; "Growing our profile in Benelux has been at the top of our regional expansion wish list and we are proud to further this goal with a new location in Rotterdam.”

Rotterdam is the starting point for our purposeful expansion through the acquisition of existing hostels and mid-range hotels.” The newly appointed Chief Investment Officer and his team are spearheading a&o’s European expansion. a&o’s commitment to growth is highlighted by the opening of four new hotels over the past two years, despite the challenges of the global pandemic.

 

Expansion across Europe’s most desirable cities:

 

The Rotterdam property is owned by JPI Hospitality and Advisory Group GmbH of Vienna and will be operated by a&o Hostels during its 20-year lease, with a view to continue operations with two five-year extension options. Gebhard Schachermayer, Managing Director and Chief Asset Manager, said, "With the purchase of Hotel Rotterdam, JPI Hospitality has succeeded in expanding its hotel portfolio in an up-and-coming destination of choice. Further growth is planned in Europe, with vibrant capital cities including London, Madrid, Rome, Paris, and Brussels on the brand’s shortlist. Long-term leases and rental agreements, as well as outright purchases, will be used to secure these well connected and popular locations.
