A&O strengthens its management team

A&O creates new positions and recruits a head of construction and a head of revenue

A&O HOTELS and HOSTELS adds two new positions to its management team: A&O has appointed proven experts to its management team. Alexander Schober will strengthen the A&O management team as Head of Construction, while Hubertus Hessel has been appointed Head of Revenue at Europe's largest hostel provider.

"We are thrilled to have recruited Alexander and Hubertus, two professionals with long-standing experience and outstanding expertise in their fields", says a visibly delighted Oliver Winter, CEO of the A&O Group. "By creating the two new positions we are looking to strengthen the areas of revenue management and construction, and we will certainly be in good hands with these two specialists. I am convinced that their profound expertise will actively contribute to the sustained growth and success of A&O and that they will help us continue to develop new destinations for our guests."

Head of Construction at A&O: Alexander Schober
Appointed Head of Construction in July, Alexander Schober has since been responsible for the planning, building and final acceptance of A&O's construction projects throughout Europe. At A&O, this equates to conversions and new builds, as well as modernisation measures and investments in portfolio properties. Alexander reports directly to the management, advising the board on all aspects of construction.

A qualified architect and real estate economist, Alexander has been responsible for the construction and project management of numerous buildings in Germany and abroad in his career so far. Besides numerous hotel buildings, his references also include the stadium for the 2011 World Swimming Championships in Shanghai, while his duties as team leader for the German Foreign Office involved structural maintenance, expansion and conversion of German embassy buildings and Goethe Institutes in Asia.

Hubertus Hessel appointed new Head of Revenue
Hubertus Hessel started his successful career after earning an MBA in Management Science and Information Systems. He managed and took control of revenue management, pricing, commercial strategy and planning for a number of airlines in Switzerland, Latvia and Finland. Hubertus also enjoyed considerable success in project management, e-commerce and business consulting, advising and coaching teams and customers in all areas of aviation and revenue management.

As newly installed Head of Revenue, Hubertus has been in charge of A&O's entire revenue management since June, focusing on upgrading the current structures and team coaching programmes, as well as introducing new tools and defining the strategic orientation of his department. In this position, the financial specialist will report directly to management.
