Leisure activities close to our hostel

The Polish metropolis is a special kind of travel destination: Poland’s capital is not only home to the country’s policymakers, it also boasts a host of cultural attractions such as museums, theatres, cinemas, opera houses, the famous Palace of Culture and Science, and other highlights of Polish culture. The Castle Square, University Library, and the Warsaw Rising Museum are all well worth a visit.

The market square features a number of restaurants and cafés that invite you to sit down, relax, and enjoy a cup of tea and some Polish specialities. Those who've had enough of souvenir shopping can venture into the New Town and marvel at some of the most beautiful churches in Warsaw, or take a stroll through parks such as the Saxon Garden or Kasinski Park. Numerous palaces such as Warsaw’s Royal Castle, which was rebuilt in 1984, museums, and the Vistula River all contribute to the unique beauty of the city.

The history of Warsaw is inextricably linked with the persecution of the Jews, whose memory is commemorated at various sites today such as the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes (Pomnik Bohaterow Getta). The “Warsaw genuflection” or Warschauer Kniefall gesture by Willy Brandt took place at this monument in 1970, signalling a thawing of German-Polish relations around this time.

Other highlights for visitors to Warsaw include the Royal Route, a splendid thoroughfare which leads you to Wilanow and Łazienki Park. An absolute must-visit especially in the summer! The baroque-style Wilanow Palace takes its architectural inspiration from Versailles in France and is also home to the Museum of Polish Poster Art. Łazienki Park meanwhile impresses with its vast 80 hectares of greenery and nature, and charming buildings such as the old and new orangery, Ujazdów Castle, Myślewicki Palace, and Biały Domek.

Choose a modern and cosy room in our low-budget hotel a&o Warsaw Wola and experience all the delights wonderful Warsaw has to offer!
