It's that time again: the Wiesn is calling! From 20 September to 5 October 2025, Munich will once again be transformed into the epicentre of Bavarian joie de vivre. Whether you're attending for the first time or an old Wiesn hand – here you can find out everything you need to know about Oktoberfest 2025: from dates and tent tips to dos and don'ts. And of course with a pinch of humour, because laughter belongs to the Wiesn like a beer belongs to a chicken.

Dates & opening times of the Oktoberfest 2025

Oktoberfest 2025 starts on Saturday, 20 September and ends on Sunday, 5 October.
The official opening hours are daily from 9:00 to 23:30. Beer serving ends at 22:30. Exceptions are the Käfer Wiesn-Schänke and the Kufflers Weinzelt, which are open until 1:00 am.

The most important beer tents & how to get a seat

The Wiesn offers a variety of beer tents, each with its own charm:

  • Schottenhamel: This is where the tapping traditionally takes place.
  • Hofbräu-Festzelt: International audience and high beer sales.
  • Paulaner-Festzelt: The largest tent with a diverse audience.
  • Fischer-Vroni: Famous for fish dishes and the ‘Pink Party’ for the LGBTQ community.

Table reservations are free, but vouchers for food and drinks must be purchased in advance. Reservations are only possible by the table for 8-10 people and cost around €350 on average. Make sure you only book through official channels, as reselling is not permitted.

Rides & attractions: More than just beer tents

In addition to the beer tents, the Oktoberfest offers numerous attractions:

  • Ferris wheel: A classic with a marvellous view over the festival grounds.
  • Ghost trains and rollercoasters: For a thrill in between.
  • Oide Wiesn: A nostalgic area with historic rides such as the ‘Russenrad’, a 14 metre high miniature Ferris wheel from 1925.

Do's & Don'ts at the Oktoberfest

The right thing to do:

  • Wear traditional costumes: A dirndl or lederhosen are simply a must.
  • Arrive early: The tents fill up quickly, especially at weekends.
  • Keep it moderate: In the truest sense of the word – drink responsibly.

Wrong:

  • No large bags: For safety reasons, only small bags are allowed.
  • No weapons or knives: Even traditional knives are prohibited.
  • Do not buy table reservations from third-party providers: These could be invalid.
