Travelling by car:
It is possible to arrive by car, as there is an underground car park on site with parking spaces for our guests for a fee. Parking in the streets in the immediate vicinity is also subject to a charge and is therefore only recommended to a limited extent.
Please note that in Milan, as in many other Italian cities, there is a traffic-calmed environmental zone: ZTL – Zona a Traffico Limitato. Do not enter this zone without prior registration! The a&o Milano Ca Granda is located in Zone B and you also need a permit for this, which must be obtained in advance. You can find more information here and there.
From Milan Central Station:
At Milano Centrale central station, the easiest way to get to the a&o Hostel Milano Ca Granda is by bus 42 or tram 5. Both depart from the park-like Piazza IV Novembre, which is located just west of the central station and is well signposted.
The journey time on tram 5 from the ‘Stazione Centrale M2 M3’ in the direction of ‘Ospedale Maggiore (Niguarda)’ is only 16 minutes or 9 stops to the ‘V.Le Ca’ Granda/V.Le Suzzani’ stop. Walk in the direction of travel to the left across the crossing and after 100 metres you will see the a&o Hostel Milano Ca Granda on the right-hand side.
If you take bus 42 in the direction of ‘Q.Re Bicocca’ instead, the journey only takes 17 minutes or 7 stops. Get off at the stop ‘V.Le Suzzani/Via Val Di Nievola’ and walk another 100 metres until you see the a&o Hostel Milano Ca Granda on your left.
Alternatively, you can take the M2 metro from the main railway station to ‘Garibaldi FS’ and change there to the M5 metro. From the station ‘Ca' Granda’ it is then a 500 metre walk to the a&o Hostel Milano Ca Granda.
Travelling to Milan by plane
From Milan Linate Airport (LIN):
From Milan Linate Airport, you must first take the bus (Autostradale 144 or Linate Shuttle) to Milan Central Station and then continue as described with tram 5 or bus 42.
From Milan-Malpensa Airport (MXP):
From Milan-Malpensa Airport, first take the bus (Autostradale 143 or Malpensa Shuttle) to Milan Central Station. Continue as described above with tram 5 or bus 42.
Or you can also take the train Malpensa Express from Malpensa Airport to "Garibaldi FS" from where you take metro M5 in direction "Bignami". The fifth stop is "Ca' Granda", and it's a 5 minutes walk to Viale Suzzani.
From Bergamo Airport (BGY):
From Bergamo airport, which is far out of town, you must first take the bus to Milan (Autostradale 141 or Orio Shuttle). From there, take tram 5 or bus 42 as described above.

Prices at a&o depend on availability. The fewer beds available in a room category, the higher the prices; when occupancy is low, they automatically decrease. Basically, this means for guests: The earlier you book, the cheaper it is. On the other hand, last-minute travelers can usually continue to take advantage of great last-minute offers - of course, only as long as the relevant category is available.
How are the rooms at a&o equipped?
All room categories offer modern hotel standard with private bathroom and free WiFi. As a rule, each room also has a TV. Single, double and family rooms include bed linen and towels. Family rooms consist of a double bed and one or two bunk beds. Dorm rooms have four to eight beds. Bed linen can be brought or reserved for a small additional fee. All bathrooms are standard equipped with shower/WC, 2-in-1 shower gel, hair dryer and cosmetic tissues.
Can I stay with a dog/pet at a&o?
At a&o, a maximum of two dogs or pets can be taken without any problems in single or double rooms - for an additional fee of 13 euros per animal and night. The animals should just not be too large or exotic.
Can I cook for myself at a&o?
Cooking for yourself is not a problem at a&o. Most a&os offer a well-equipped guest kitchen. Which hostels have a guest kitchen is noted on the respective hostel website and in the booking confirmation.
