Our A&O HOTEL and HOSTEL am Zoo is located in the „City-West“, the former centre of West-Berlin. Near to the famous Kurfürstendamm (Ku’Damm), we are in the geographic and cultural middle of the district Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, which is well known for its culinary variety and all kinds of entertainment.
Many theaters, like the „Theater des Westens“, plenty of cinemas and reams of restaurants and bars are within walking distance.
The area is a paradise for shoppers. The “Kaufhaus des Westens“ (KaDeWe) at the Wittenbergplatz is the right place to get „everything“. Especially the gourmet shop in the 6th floor is a spot to spend hours discovering exotic fruits, fresh fish and hundreds of different cheeses. Between the Wittenbergplatz and the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche you will find shops for any taste and budget. And if you follow the Ku’Damm westward there are the luxury shops of Gucci, Joop or Escada.
A relaxing place in the middle of the city is the Zoologischer Garten Berlin, Germany´s oldest zoo and one of the most speciose in the world. More than 14.000 animals can be seen and in the adjacent aquarium live plenty of spectacular fishes, reptiles, and amphibians.
